FIAlyzer-1000 Series


The FIAlyzer-1000 flow injection analyzer is a reliable and efficient solution for laboratories looking to measure a wide range of parameters in drinking water, wastewater, soil and plant extracts, and other liquid samples. Flow injection analysis offers a simple, reliable, and fast way of analyzing samples in the lab.

Some of the more common analytes include ortho-phosphates (OP), total phosphorus (TP), nitrate (NO3), nitrate + nitrite (NOx), nitrite (NO2), total nitrogen (TN), total Kjeldahl nitrogen (TKN), and ammonia (NH3). For a complete list of analytes, please see our Method List.

  • The FIAlyzer-1000 has a modular design, whereby the instruments can be combined into a 1-4 channel system with a combination of methods. This allows laboratories that need to analyze one set of samples for several analytes to do so in one run; conversely, a lab that is focused on a single parameter or prefers a dedicated system for each parameter can select a single-channel option.

    The system is controlled by FIAsoft, our state-of-the-art control software, which is written by our in-house software team and receives regular updates. FIAsoft allows for easy sample import, data export, and LIMS integration, and is compatible with Windows 10/11.

    FIAlyzer-1000 or FIAlyzer-FLEX

    FIAlab offers two flow injection analyzers, the 1000 and the FLEX. Each is well-suited for certain applications. The FIAlyzer-1000 is compact, robust, and simple. It is an excellent instrument for the following situations:

    • each channel will be dedicated to one or two methods and not a lot of switchover will be needed (switchovers between similar methods are still simple, for example NOx to NO2 or NH3 to TKN)

    • in-line methods are not needed – these are only available for the FLEX instrument

  • The complete FIAlyzer-1000 system includes an autosampler and control software, and each channel includes a built-in peristaltic pump, injection valve, light source, and full-array spectrometer. A heater can be added when required. Additional options include an autodilutor, manual distillation unit, or block digestor.

    The robust design, reliability, and high sample throughput make it the best choice for agricultural and environmental laboratories performing routine assays; some advantages of using the FIAlyzer-1000 series includes:

    • Full automation of flow injection analysis, including automatic pre-dilution and post-dilution and re-running of over-range samples

    • Software-controlled pump is built-in

    • Small footprint – each channel measures less than 1 square foot (30 square centimeters)

    • Rapid throughput – can analyze up to 240 samples / hour, per channel

    • Software is written in-house by FIAlab and receives regular feature updates

  • Molybdenum blue method: EPA 365.1 and SM 4500-P F / SM 4500-P G

    Total Kjeldahl Phosphate (TKP) also available: EPA 365.4

  • Pyridine barbiturate method. EPA 335.4 and EPA OIA-1677.

    Amperometric method:

    • Available cyanide determination by OIA-1677-09 (EPA), 4500-CN-I (Standard Methods), 14403 (ISO) or 6888-09 (ASTM). [CN-W-4-1]

    • Free cyanide determination by 7237-15a (ASTM). [CN-W-4-3]

    • Total cyanide (fully automated) determination by D7511−12 (ASTM). This setup would require the addition of an in-line digestion module. [CN-W-4-2]

    • Total cyanide (semi-automated) determination in post-distillation samples by D7284 (ASTM). In this case, samples are first processed by manual batch distillation. [CN-W-4-1]

  • Most Standard Methods and EPA methods are compatible with our instruments.
